10 Do It Yourself Cleaning Hacks

Cleaning Hacks help you work smarter, not harder. These 10 DIY Cleaning hacks, that professioanl cleaners will never tell you, will save you time and money. If you can’t quite get your fridge smelling fresh or your windows to be streak free, then you’ve come to the right place.

1. ELIMINATE FRIDGE ODOURS

Placing a bowl of coffee grounds in your fridge will absorb any foul odors. Replace the coffee grounds every two months, and your fridge will remain smelling fresh.

2. MAKE YOUR OWN NON TOXIC CLEANING SPRAY

Make a quick, non-toxic cleaner with 4 tablespoons of baking soda and 1 quarter of warm water. This solution will work great on appliances and kitchen counters with a sponge or rag.

3. ELIMINATE STALE MATTRESSES

Over the course of a few months, dust and skin cells can build up in the folds of your bed. To freshen your mattress, add about 15 drops of your favorite essential oil to an entire box of baking soda. Close the box and shake it up then sprinkle it on the bed. Vacuum slowly to remove it.

4. CLEAN YOUR IRON

Use salt to get rid of scorch buildups on your iron. Place a pillowcase on your ironing board and pour salt on the pillowcase. Iron the salt with the steam option off and the metal on your iron will end up clean.

5. REMOVAL OF GREASE BUILD UP ON CUPBOARDS

Grease and cooking buildup on your kitchen cabinets will disappear when you use a mixture of 1 part vegetable oil and 2 parts baking soda. Scrub the buildup with an old toothbrush and be sure to get to any wood and cabinet handles.

6. HARDWATER BUILDUP REMOVAL

For stainless steel sinks, faucets, and other appliances, rub the surfaces with a lemon half to erase hard water stains. Let the lemon juice sit a few minutes, then rinse with warm water, and the surface will shine like new.

7. CLEAN THE MICROWAVE

Your microwave can get grimy quickly. And all this stuck-on grime is difficult to clean. To loosen up the stuck-on pieces, place a cup filled with water in the appliance and run it for 3 minutes to allow steam to form. Filling your microwave with steam will loosen the stuck-on residue. Then, all you have to do is wipe it away and your microwave cleaning is complete! Add a little lemon for that completely fresh smell.

8. CLEAN YOUR SPONGES

Sponges can pick up a lot of bacteria, especially if they’re left in the sink. You want to make sure you clean them frequently. It’s so easy: Just pop the wet sponge in the microwave for 30 seconds to remove any bacteria! Just wait a minute or two before pulling out since it’ll still be hot. You can also put your sponge in the dishwasher to get it nice and clean again!

9.MAKE YOUR SINK DRAINERS SPARKLE

Sink drainers can get very dirty and a build up of hard water can remail visable and not easy to remove. Pop it in the sink and spray it with limescale remover… leave for 30 mins and rinse off thoroughly leaving you a nearly new sink drainer!

10. USE BAKING SODA FOR BRIGHTER CLEANER LAUNDRY

Just pour a cup of baking soda in with the wash and voila! your clothes will come out even brighter and cleaner!
